Hope everyone had a very happy 4th of July!
We had a pretty low-key day, but it was very relaxing. We did venture out to a neighboring suburb to check out some stellar fireworks last night. I used the opportunity to work on my photography skills for my goals this week.
Kyle and I picked up some sparklers to practice painting with light. It was cramped quarters, and we needed a few more tries to get rid of the blur. But I think they still turned out kinda cool. I also took a long exposure of all the little kids playing with their glow sticks. The street lamp ended up looking kind of like the sun.
Taking pictures of fireworks was a little more challenging than I anticipated. We were so close that it was hard to predict where they would be, and I was trying to use a long exposure to really capture the light. However, I got a lot of practice adjusting my settings, and I managed to get a few decent ones. It was a great show, and we had fun!
For my craft this week, I made a little artwork for our baby girl’s room. I ripped various colors of paper and glued them to the canvas. I then used sticky card stock and stencils to cut letters and put them on top of the colored paper. Then Kyle spray painted the whole thing purple for me. Once it dried, I removed the letters to reveal the colored paper underneath. It was a variation of something I saw on Pinterest of course. Find her tutorial here.
Here are pictures of my craft and photos from the fireworks show:
We are super excited about what’s coming up this weekend and next week – stay tuned! :)
I thank God for my life
For the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly
Let it ring!
Salute the ones who died
The ones who give their lives
So we don’t have to sacrifice
All the things we love…
