11.28.11-12.2.11: The Big Move – Part 1

3 Dec

We did it!  We officially made the trek from Illinois to Pennsylvania today.

Our final couple of weeks in the Midwest was spent making the rounds to see family and friends and making final preparations for the big move.  The movers came Monday and Tuesday to pack up and load all of our stuff.  With tons of tape, boxes, and paper and a few tears, the house was empty by Tuesday afternoon!  It sure beat the moves we have made (with the help of a few friends/family) in the snow and/or rain! (right, guys?)  Although Jamie did struggle a little with not being in control of the organization of the packing, but it definitely is the best way to move. 🙂  It was a little surreal to see what we thought would be our “forever house” empty.  We were a little sad leaving it, but we are excited for another family to enjoy it.  And of course we are excited for our new adventure.

Kyle then made a quick trip to New York for his first set of meetings in his new role.  While he was gone, Jamie got to enjoy a little QT with the Bobbitt’s. Thank you so much for letting us stay – love ya’ll!  After some hugs and a few more tears, we took off early this morning.  15 hours later – here we are!  Doesn’t quite feel “real” yet since we will be in a hotel over the weekend.  On Monday, Kyle will officially start his new job, and Jamie will start getting us settled into the new house.  We will see what else we can check off of the “to-see” list this weekend.  We are definitely looking forward to being settled after feeling like nomads the last couple of weeks.  More to come soon! 🙂  Let the adventure begin…
