12.16.11 – WWJD: What Will Jamie Do?

16 Dec

Some of you may be wondering, “What is Jamie going to be up to while Kyle is at work?”  I met with my new principal mentor this morning.  I believe it is going to be a very challenging but rewarding experience for me next semester.  My new mentor is a pretty amazing elementary principal in the area, and she really wants this internship to be a great learning experience for me.  She will let me take on some projects and activities that will push  me out of my comfort zone and allow me to experience what it is truly like to be a principal, so I am nervous yet really excited to start this internship.

I also sent off my paperwork to transfer my educator’s license to Pennsylvania, which may not sound like a big deal but it was a lot of work!  You would think I was applying to be a CIA agent or something. 🙂  I hope to get my license transferred soon so that I can substitute teach when I am not interning.  A lot of the schools in the area outsource their subbing to a subbing agency, so I can apply in one place and sub in several school districts.

Finally, I will be taking classes through Drexel and Illinois State to finish up my Master’s.  I hope to be done with the internship and the classes at the end of June.  Then I will be done taking classes FOREVER (at least for a long time – I promise! 🙂 ).

In conclusion, I will be keeping myself busy, but don’t let that stop you from coming to visit us!  We can’t wait to have visitors in the new year!
