3.15.12 – The Chihuahua: Part Deux

15 Mar

There are two sides to every story, but since I (Jamie) do most of the work writing this blog you will hear my side of this story.  If Kyle wants to share his side, I suppose he will have to write a post. 🙂

For those of you unfamiliar with the Chihuahua story, here is a quick recap:

While we were dating, Kyle and I were walking with his brother Rick and wife Emily in Chicago to pick up some pizza.  We were turning a corner and a very ferocious Chihuahua jumped out barking, which startled all of us.  Rather than saving and protecting his love, Kyle jumps behind me and lets me face off with the ferocious (tiny) beast.  The story has given us a good laugh ever since and gave Rick some good Best Man speech material for our wedding.

Fast forward to this week:

Kyle and I were walking home from dinner Thursday night.  As we approached our house, an animal crouched by our car caught our attention and startled us both.  You might be wondering – did Kyle redeem himself for the Chihuahua incident?  Unfortunately, not really…he grabbed the sleeve of my shirt and took a step back while I kept walking.  I realized before he did that the crouching animal was our neighborhood gray cat while he thought it was a beaver.  In his defense: 1. there are a lot of beaver around here (supposedly) 2. he claims he was grabbing my arm to push me out of the way.  So perhaps we are making some improvement… but in my mind protection would have been jumping in front of me.  Being the loving wife that I am, I immediately called Rick and Emily to share the incident, and they believe my side of the story. 🙂

I of course share this story in good fun… I know my husband has my back – just maybe not when it comes to small animals.  Love you honey! 🙂

Good thing the cicadas are not coming out yet. That’s a whole other Kyle aka Jack Hanna story.
