7.8.12 – Weekend Wrap-up

8 Jul

This past weekend we set out on a vacation road trip. Our first stop was Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to visit Kyle’s Grandma and Grandpa. It was my first time visiting their lovely home, and we had fun visiting with them. We also enjoyed a delicious home-cooked meal (thanks, Grandma!), a walk on the Boardwalk, and an early morning walk on the beach to see the sunrise. It was a short visit, but we were so glad to see them. After a yummy Denny’s breakfast, we said goodbye and ventured on to our next vacation destination.

Our next stop: Hilton Head, South Carolina. I have vacationed here almost every summer since I was young, and it is one of my favorite places. We met the rest of the Wagner crew at the condo, and we couldn’t wait to start our week of fun, sun, and surf. While we waited for our condo to be ready, we immediately set out for a walk on the beach. The rest of Saturday was spent getting settled in, grocery shopping at the Piggly Wiggly, and eating some Giuseppi’s pizza. We also finalized the rules and events for our first annual Beach Decathlon starting on Monday – stay tuned for updates on the standings. 🙂

Sunday was our first official day. We enjoyed a day of beach time, tennis, and swimming. Our first meal was at Wild Wings Cafe, which is one of our annual dinner destinations. We also had to make a stop at our favorite ice cream place The Ice Cream Cone. After dinner was a couple rounds of the “Pound Game,” which is a beloved card game. We are having tons of fun already and can’t wait to see what the rest of the week will bring!
