12.27.17 – Christmas Recap

27 Dec

It’s hard to believe Christmas has come and gone and the new year is fast approaching. We have enjoyed having Daddy home this week and have started a little purge/cleanup process while still finding lots of time to relax and unwind after a very busy December. But before we rush into another year, here’s a little recap of our holiday:

Kyle enjoyed a trip to Las Vegas with the Wagner boys to celebrate Jacob’s 21st birthday. The Wagner girls plus Logan hung with us all week, which was a lot of fun. We went to Indiana later in the week to reunite with Kyle have Christmas with the rest of the Wagner crew. It was our last time staying in Mimi and Grandpa’s house – the house of most of childhood. Very bittersweet!

We left early Christmas Eve, and our drive home ended up being quite eventful. We ended up in the ditch in rural Indiana. The tow truck ended up getting stuck trying to get us out, so we were there over two hours before finally continuing on our drive.

Not exactly the Christmas Eve we had planned, but certainly one to remember. The kids were troopers, and most importantly, we were very thankful to arrive home safe and sound 8 hours later.

After an eventful Christmas Eve, we enjoyed a nice, quiet day at home. Laney and I went sledding in the afternoon, which was so much fun. She declared it, “The best day EVER!” while we were hiking back up the hill, and that was all I needed to make my holiday complete after the hustle and bustle of the weeks prior.

We hope your Christmas was just as merry! Happy birthday, Jesus!

12.2.17 – Santa Visit

2 Dec

We shockingly had no tears today at our annual Santa visit despite our time slot being well past nap time. Kyle gave Santa’s beard a good tug on accident when he picked Greyson up of Santa’s lap. Good thing his beard was secure. 🙂

Added a couple more kiddos to the photo this year! ❤

11.26.17 – Thanksgiving Recap

26 Nov

We had a nice visit to Indiana over the Thanksgiving holiday. We had several birthdays to celebrate – including a 33rd, a 30th, and a 21st. Plus, we enjoyed a trip to the Purdue/IU game and had some fun dressing up for breakfast club. And of course a tasty feast with our family to top it all off. We came home with stuffed bellies, tired eyes, and full hearts.

I also included a few pics from Laney’s feast at school. Their little performance was the cutest. She was thankful for Greyson, Oliver, God and her family. ❤

10.31.17 – Happy Halloween!

31 Oct

Happy Halloween! Hope y’all had a day full of fun and treats! We kicked off the holiday celebrations with super fun weekend with my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew. We started the festivities with Trunk or Treat at our church Thursday night, and Laney has been fired up ever since. Our weekend also included a little pumpkin carving/decorating.

We had a costume rehearsal so I could snap a few pictures of the kiddos (and attempt a selfie):

Then it was the big event! A fun party at school as Princess Elena of Avalor plus a busy evening of handing out candy and trick-or-treating. The boys loved greeting everyone at the door and inspecting the candy. Laney sat in a chair by the door waiting for everyone to arrive and was so generous with the candy that we ran out well before it was over. 😉 She then had a turn collecting treats with Daddy while the boys called it a night. A fun and exhausting day for all! Looking forward to the fun we will have next year!

9.17.17 – Birthday Recap

17 Sep

We had a super fun weekend with family and friends celebrating our girl turning five years old. She was over-the-moon excited about everything – especially presents, of course. She is one blessed little girl!

We started off her birthday extravaganza with her annual birthday doughnut and a few gifts from us.

We then had a little celebration with some close friends at a local art studio where the kiddos got to paint and draw. She was so excited about her party that we were counting sleeps, and she put her unicorn outfit on the minute she woke up that morning.

We had a family celebration on Sunday. It was such a fun, laid-back day. The kids even had a little water fun outside. I took a lot of video but not a lot of photos.

I think it was this little unicorn’s favorite birthday yet! Thank you to our family and friends for making our girl feel so special! We love you!

7.12.17 – 9th Anniversary

12 Jul

9 years together! It’s hard to believe. Kyle painted this year’s number while I cooked dinner a week after our anniversary. That’s just the stage of life we are in right now. Multi-tasking and sharing the workload. You do this while I do that. Nothing getting done in as timely of a manner as it used to, but the important stuff gets done. And traditions are important to us. The paint job for this year was inspired by a yin-yang in green and blue to represent the year of the twins. When we sat down to write this past year’s milestones on the back…the boys were pretty much it besides Kyle’s new job. Because #twins

The boys were such a wonderful gift, an answer to many, many prayers. But the first six months of twins was one of the most mentally challenging periods of our lives. There isn’t much that brings out the worst in a person like pure exhaustion. But I also think it brought out the best in our marriage. Teamwork, true partnership, and so, so much grace. “It’s OK, I know that frustration wasn’t really directed at me.” “I’ll take this shift so you can nap and then we can switch.” “Give him to me, you need a break.” “You are doing a great job.” We were totally in it together. We certainly grew from the experience, and I really couldn’t be more proud of us.

So today we celebrate! Cheers to 9 years of adventure…so many highs…helping each other through the lows…three beautiful babies…growing up and growing old together…and making it through the first six month of twins. I’m not sure if you showed these two young State Farm interns a picture of their life in 12 years they would have believed you.

But I certainly couldn’t imagine a life any better than this one or a better person to have by my side.

7.4.17 – 4th of July

4 Jul

Hope everyone had an awesome 4th of July! We seriously had the best day. After a fun (but exhausting) vacation, we spent Monday relaxing and getting caught up on life, so Tuesday we were ready for a little family fun. We grilled out, had some water fun outside, played games, roasted some mallows, and wrapped up the night with fireworks.

I was back-and-forth on taking Laney to fireworks. I’m always a little hesitant to disrupt her bedtime (especially after a busy vacation and with her having circus camp this week), but she had asked about going a few times. We also had never taken her, and this seemed like the perfect year to try it. I am SO glad I did. She was just the cutest. Her anticipation and excitement was contagious. My heart could have exploded right along with those fireworks. I only wish Kyle could have seen her (he stayed back with the boys). She was missing her dad too and asked me a couple times if I took a picture of them so he could see them. (And then yelled at me to put my phone down, so I didn’t miss any of them. I was just doing what she asked!)

A few cute quotes from her during the show:

“I hope one of them looks like me.”

“That one looked like Ollie!”

“That one kinda looked like a bathtub!”

“I wish I had these in my room!”

“That one touched the moon! Did you see it, Mom!?”

The perfect way to wrap up vacation. It was a day and night I will never forget, and I made sure of it by making a video. You can see more of our fun 4th here.

Hope you all had as much fun as we did! God bless the USA!!
