12.27.17 – Christmas Recap

27 Dec

It’s hard to believe Christmas has come and gone and the new year is fast approaching. We have enjoyed having Daddy home this week and have started a little purge/cleanup process while still finding lots of time to relax and unwind after a very busy December. But before we rush into another year, here’s a little recap of our holiday:

Kyle enjoyed a trip to Las Vegas with the Wagner boys to celebrate Jacob’s 21st birthday. The Wagner girls plus Logan hung with us all week, which was a lot of fun. We went to Indiana later in the week to reunite with Kyle have Christmas with the rest of the Wagner crew. It was our last time staying in Mimi and Grandpa’s house – the house of most of childhood. Very bittersweet!

We left early Christmas Eve, and our drive home ended up being quite eventful. We ended up in the ditch in rural Indiana. The tow truck ended up getting stuck trying to get us out, so we were there over two hours before finally continuing on our drive.

Not exactly the Christmas Eve we had planned, but certainly one to remember. The kids were troopers, and most importantly, we were very thankful to arrive home safe and sound 8 hours later.

After an eventful Christmas Eve, we enjoyed a nice, quiet day at home. Laney and I went sledding in the afternoon, which was so much fun. She declared it, “The best day EVER!” while we were hiking back up the hill, and that was all I needed to make my holiday complete after the hustle and bustle of the weeks prior.

We hope your Christmas was just as merry! Happy birthday, Jesus!

11.26.17 – Thanksgiving Recap

26 Nov

We had a nice visit to Indiana over the Thanksgiving holiday. We had several birthdays to celebrate – including a 33rd, a 30th, and a 21st. Plus, we enjoyed a trip to the Purdue/IU game and had some fun dressing up for breakfast club. And of course a tasty feast with our family to top it all off. We came home with stuffed bellies, tired eyes, and full hearts.

I also included a few pics from Laney’s feast at school. Their little performance was the cutest. She was thankful for Greyson, Oliver, God and her family. ❤

10.7.17 – Fair Oaks Farms

7 Oct

We met my side of the family at Fair Oaks Farms in Indiana for the Cowtober festival. It was another unseasonably warm fall day, which was great for being outside with the kiddos. The boys did so awesome with being off schedule and all of the driving. We had a blast touring the farm and eating yummy food. Here are a few pics and videos from our adventure.

8.18.17 – Summer Reflections

18 Aug

There are so many pros and cons to social media. It can make us feel more connected, but it can also make us feel less than. Comparison is the thief of joy, as they say, and it’s easy to start comparing ourselves to others. We tend to put our best out on the interwebs, and it’s easy to forget that those moments are just a snapshot of a person’s day. Everyone has struggles just like you.

I caught myself in one of these comparison spirals this summer. As I saw everyone marking items off of their summer bucket lists full of fun, I was struggling to get myself showered and dressed before 3:00 PM. It was mid July, and I started feeling bad that Laney hadn’t been to the pool or to the library for the summer reading program or to any parks or to the lake…

But I stopped myself. There were lots of things we had done! I hosted and arranged one million play dates to keep Laney busy and give her some social time. We went on an airplane to the beach for a week, made road trips to visit family, attended summer music class, walked on the new trail by our house, and played on the slip-and-slide. She went fishing with Daddy and attended circus camp and VBS. We had dinners with friends. I even took all three kids to the library and to Target the other day, and we all survived!

Then Mimi and Annie came to visit and we finally made it to the pool and even went to the county fair! Laney declared that was the best day!

Last week we made a final summer road trip to Indiana for a swim and a trip to the Indianapolis Children’s Museum.

And I reminded myself…it’s OK for her to be bored once in awhile. I tried my best to create a few fun memories while also doing what was best for the boys. She’s learning about being a big sister (and she’s an amazing one!). That sometimes we have to do what is best for someone else in the family for awhile. It’s a short phase, and this is one summer of many. And it was a pretty darn good one!

5.30.17 – Memorial Day Weekend

30 May

We had a really fun Memorial Day weekend at Grandpa and Mimi’s house. The weather wasn’t as warm as we had hoped, but we didn’t let that stop us from enjoying some time together poolside.

By the end of the weekend, Laney was swimming like a little fish – jumping off the diving board, going under water, and swimming without her floaties. Huge strides from last year! We were so proud of her! The boys had their first dip as well but weren’t quite sure what to think of the experience. 🙂 And no Memorial Day weekend is complete without some intense pool volleyball matches and some diving board stunts.

The boys also got to meet Great Grandma and Grandpa Minion on race day!

As the weekend came to an end, we felt refreshed but were missing our fun family time already! Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of summer!

10.15.16 – Indiana Baby Shower

15 Oct

I had an awesome Saturday in Indiana visiting with my friends and family at my baby shower. My awesome sister-in-law and besties planned a delicious brunch, and I loved catching up with those who were able to attend. We are so blessed to be surrounded by such generous, loving family and friends! Can’t thank everyone enough! A few phone snaps from the day:

5.31.16 – Baby Logan and Memorial Weekend

31 May

We had a pretty fabulous extended Memorial Weekend. We swam and swam and swam some more. We celebrated my birthday. And my sweet, new nephew arrived on my birthday eve. It doesn’t get much better than that!

First weekend snaps:

Now welcome to the world, baby Logan! You are so loved!
