11.2.11 – 11.6.11: House Hunting

21 Nov

Welcome to our blog!  We wanted a way to stay in touch with family and friends and keep everyone updated on our adventure to the East Coast.  We hope you will check back often for the latest. 🙂

Our first trip to Philly was filled with anticipation and anxiety. We were looking forward to starting our new adventure but were anxious to find a new place to call home.  We arrived in Philly around noon and started our first house hunting trip that afternoon.  In Kyle’s words, our first day of house hunting was “humbling.”  We quickly realized there wasn’t much reason to see any rentals that had been on the market for more than a couple of weeks (there was plenty of reasons why they hadn’t been rented yet).  Kyle did another house search the next morning, and we were so thankful he did.  A cute, old house in Media went on the market the day we arrived, and it was the one for us.

Here is our new home:

We are super excited about the location.  It splits the difference between Philly and Kyle’s office.  We are within walking distance to the train, shops, restaurants, and grocery stores.  It has the charm and character we were looking for with some modern amenities.  Plus it has plenty of space for visitors!

Once we had found our new home, we were able to do some initial sightseeing and cross some items off of our “to see” list.   Below are a few pictures from our initial adventures.  Jamie managed to take the train by herself for the first time.  We checked out some of downtown Philly’s historic buildings and Ben Franklin sites.  Our favorite place was the Reading Terminal Market.  We are looking forward to doing more exploring once we make the big move.

We can’t wait to have visitors! Hope to see you soon. 🙂
