2.14.14 – Valentine’s Day Recap

14 Feb

We are having the happiest of Valentine’s days. Holidays with kiddos are so much more fun!

My mom always had a little surprise waiting for us in the kitchen the morning of Valentine’s Day, and she still mails us packages every year (love you, Momma!). I couldn’t wait to carry on this tradition with Laney. With her being only 5 months old on her first Valentine’s Day, I knew this year would be even more fun.

We get Laney a book with a little note from us written inside for every holiday. I can’t wait to read this year’s book Love Monster to her tonight! Kyle bought the big dog for her, and I knew she would love the little baby doll I found at Target. And I just had to add a couple fun-shaped spatulas I found on clearance at Meijer yesterday. So we ended up going a little overboard…

Breakfast was some heart-shaped pancakes and a little doughnut treat.2014-02-14 07.20.50

Laney had a little present of her own for us when she woke up – a diaper explosion. 🙂 After a little clean-up, we put Laney in her highchair, and she immediately took a big bite of pancake. But then she saw the goodies on the table and couldn’t wait to get her hands on them!

Once she had sufficiently played with all her goodies, it was back to business. She signed “bird” when she tested out her cup, “counted” the hearts on her plate, and scarfed it all down.

We had fun playing after breakfast. She can’t get enough of her stuffed dog and spatulas.

And immediately wanted to rock her baby. (No judgement on my horrible singing voice, please!)

And we had the usual lack of cooperation for a mommy and me picture, so I had to resort to silly one. (Yes, we have matching shirts. Dorky, I know. I had this cute picture idea to surprise Kyle, but you can see that didn’t work out so well. I think someone is tired of pictures.)

Finally a little pic of the day action.

Kyle and I are looking forward to a little date night tonight thanks to some very kind friends, and I know Laney will have lots of fun without us. And apparently I missed the memo on the big snow today. I failed to get up the driveway after we went to have lunch with a friend, and the roads are terrible! Be safe, friends!

Wishing you lots of love! Happy Valentine’s Day!
