10.7.17 – Fair Oaks Farms

7 Oct

We met my side of the family at Fair Oaks Farms in Indiana for the Cowtober festival. It was another unseasonably warm fall day, which was great for being outside with the kiddos. The boys did so awesome with being off schedule and all of the driving. We had a blast touring the farm and eating yummy food. Here are a few pics and videos from our adventure.

9.10.17 – California Recap

10 Sep

This is going to be a mega post, because we had a mega fun trip. Kyle was given the opportunity to go to San Diego as a reward for completing an insurance designation through his employer. We decided to make it a fifth birthday/big sister trip for Delaney. We headed to Disneyland for a few nights and then drove down the coast to finish our trip in Coronado outside of San Diego. We wore ourselves out but had a blast. The first couple days in Disneyland were HOT!! But her joy and excitement made all of the sweat worth it. 🙂

Day 1: We arrived mid-morning California time. We did some exploring of Disneyland Park and caught the Mickey Soundsational Parade before calling it an early night.

Day 2: Early to bed, early to rise as they say. We headed into Downtown Disney for breakfast and over to California Adventure Park for the Magic Hour. Magic hour was awesome – we were able to ride a ton of rides quickly. Our favorite was the Cars area and ride, but we also rode the Little Mermaid ride about five times before lunch. Lunch was Laney’s character dining experience. She was so excited to meet the princesses and have them sign her book. But she was a little disappointed they weren’t actually joining us for lunch. Oops! Should have explained that better. 🙂 After lunch, we got to meet Elena plus Elsa, Anna, Olaf and Kristoff. It was, “The best day ever!” 🙂 We stayed up late to catch of the World of Color show, which ended up being a mistake. It was drizzling rain, Laney was so exhausted and she wanted to leave at the Pirates of the Caribbean fire display part (too scary). It would have been neat to see under different circumstances.

Day 3: The fun continued back in Disneyland after the character breakfast in our hotel. Laney didn’t know who the characters were, but the food was tasty and she still enjoyed it. We went in for magic hour and met the princess again, since we had some time to kill before Laney’s makeover. The Elsa makeover was back in Downtown Disney and was a really fun experience. She loved every second, but it was too hot to wear her dress. We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the rest of Disneyland Park. We met Jasmine, Moana, and Mickey! Plus had the scariest time on Splash Mountain. It was a great last day!

San Diego: Day 1

The drive down to San Diego was one of the grown ups’ favorite parts of the trip. We stopped at a couple of beaches along the way, which Laney did not want to leave. It was a gorgeous day and very relaxing after a busy few days in Disney. We headed to the beach when we got to our hotel and watched the sunset. Laney also found her calling as a seagull chaser.

San Diego: Day 2

On Day 2, we decided to head to La Jolla and go on a kayak adventure. It was a workout! It was pretty windy and choppy but we saw lots of sea lions. We did a little shopping and stopped by the Baked Bear (YUMMM) on our way back to Coronado.

San Diego: Day 3

We headed over to Liberty Public Market and Balboa Park where we checked out the Aviation and Space Museum.

San Diego: Day 4

On our last day, Laney was kinda really over exploring. We spent the morning at the beach and convinced her to go to the Safari Park with us later (I really wanted to see it). It was beautiful, and I wished we had more time there. But it was a really nice way to end our trip!

It was an amazing trip, and it was so fun to spend time with Laney one-on-one, but we were all excited to be home with these two cutie pies.

Thank you, Mimi, Grandpa, and Annie for a fun getaway and taking such good care of “the brothers” while we were gone!

5.30.17 – Memorial Day Weekend

30 May

We had a really fun Memorial Day weekend at Grandpa and Mimi’s house. The weather wasn’t as warm as we had hoped, but we didn’t let that stop us from enjoying some time together poolside.

By the end of the weekend, Laney was swimming like a little fish – jumping off the diving board, going under water, and swimming without her floaties. Huge strides from last year! We were so proud of her! The boys had their first dip as well but weren’t quite sure what to think of the experience. 🙂 And no Memorial Day weekend is complete without some intense pool volleyball matches and some diving board stunts.

The boys also got to meet Great Grandma and Grandpa Minion on race day!

As the weekend came to an end, we felt refreshed but were missing our fun family time already! Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of summer!

2.25.17 – These Days

25 Feb

Sometimes it feels like all we are doing is feeding babies and changing diapers these days.

But there are lots of snuggles to go around.

And there is plenty of fun too.

Saturday morning dance parties in the kitchen.

Tea time and bath time.

And of course coordinating outfits.

We get through colds and visits to the doctor.

Have lunch dates with friends.

Get all dressed up for church.

And have Mama + Mini dates to see Daniel Tiger with our best girlfriends.

And Laney and I work hard at capturing smiles on camera – plus all of the other moments I don’t want to forget!

We are starting to settle into life as a family of five – there have been a few tears and lots of tired eyes…but mostly lots of smiles and snuggles…and a whole bunch of joy and love!

Happy weekend, y’all! We’re just chillin.

12.3.16 – Weekend wrap-up

3 Dec

It was a busy week of firsts at our house this week.

Laney had her first “basketball game.”

We are really blessed to live in a town with a great parks & rec program. She loves basketball nights!

Saturday (after our Santa visit) was her big dance recital – The Littlest Nutcracker. She was so excited and looked adorable, and we were so proud of how hard she tried during her performance. I’m not going to lie – I got a little emotional as I saw her running up to the stage with her “big kid dancer.” Between the basketball game, the recital, and my pregnancy hormones…my heart just couldn’t take the cuteness this week. These are some of the moments I have dreamed about since finding out she was a girl. And that little smile and pose at the end when her classmates walked off stage? heart.melted. I couldn’t be more proud to be her mama!

She may have had the biggest and best fan club there. We love our family so!

It was her first recital and it may be her last. She’s already decided she wants to go back to gymnastics next year, which surprised me a little…but we really just want to give her the opportunity to try different things. I really can’t say enough good about the dance school she went to – if you are local and looking for a place for your little dancer, let me know!

We also had our first snow of the season! Had to break out a couple of Christmas gifts early, but it was worth it…Laney, Annie, and Kyle made a huge snowman and had a blast in the winter wonderland!

It was a super fun weekend! Can’t believe our next family visit will include our new additions!! Better go rest up now. 🙂

12.3.16 – Santa Visit

3 Dec

We went to visit Santa at Daddy’s work this morning. Laney was excited to go but kept asking me to tell Santa what she wanted. When it was our turn, she kept the tradition of not wanting to get close to him. We basically had to threaten her to get up there with Kyle (parents of the year – pressure of a long line behind us!).

Santa: Would you like a doll?

L: (shakes head no)

Santa: Would you like a truck?

L: (shakes head no)

Santa: Would you like a rock and two sticks?

L: (shakes head no)

OK, smile!

And we called it a day and checked this year’s visit off the to-do list. I guess she better write a letter to Santa or he isn’t going to know what to get her. 😉 I am really thankful Kyle’s office puts on such a nice event for the employees’ families. Sure beats spending a lot of money at the mall for a terrible picture!

Here’s the yearly comparison:

Hard to believe we will have two more little babes to add to the picture next year!

10.8.16 – Apple Picking

8 Oct

We had an awesome day full of fall fun! We headed to the apple orchard to pick some apples and pumpkins, and the weather could not have been more perfect! After apple picking, Laney enjoyed the pony rides and inflatables before we headed to get some lunch. We headed to Kyle’s favorite pizza place from college and decided to walk over to the football game. We enjoyed the halftime show and some mediocre Purdue/Illini football before calling it a day and heading home. We had full hearts, full bellies, and tired feet!
